AYURVEDIC COOKING WORKSHOP

The course provides a theoretical introduction to Ayurveda, which is to know the individual physical and mental constitution in order to combine different foods and personal characteristics are analyzed in food according to their taste and their property, we learn the proper use of spices are useful for different constitutions.











The practical part involves the preparation of ghee clarified butter, a staple of Ayurvedic cuisine, the kichari, a dish that is also called "the nectar of the Gods" and other traditional Indian dishes and our kitchen, cooked according to Ayurveda.

It is therefore a course intended for people who want to get closer to Indian philosophy and Ayurveda passing through the culture and the theory of flavors enjoyed by preparing food and use spices.

The course prepares the properties of spices and better nutrition as an integral part of improving the quality of life.

The meetings follow a methodology and theoretical-practical workshop. Everything will be prepared and tasted together.

Program

Saturday, start time: 9.30

Theoretical part:

  • Introduction to Philosophy Ayurvedic theory of creation of the universe according to Indian philosophy, which is based on the 'Ayurveda and its concepts.
  • tridosha theory and the individual constitution (prakriti).
  • The theory of the six tastes according to Ayurveda. We will try to determine the prakriti of participants with nutrition tips.
  • Introduction to Ayurvedic cooking and general rules.
  • The spices of Indian cuisine and their properties: ginger, black pepper, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cloves, turmeric, etc..

Laboratory:

Preparation of ghee ghee, and its use in ayurvedic cooking.

During meals we will prepare a surprise menu (the menu will be finalized and set only the day before the course, order to offer students only fresh ingredients season and that will be matched to the market) and enjoy all the recipes prepared.

Sunday time period: about 14.30
